Let’s Connect!!

‘Tis the season…. And it has been hectic… I have been pretty social on instagram, see below for a couple of my most recent shots (which has a LOT of New York reminiscing going on!!) Follow me and keep in touch!! I love it!!

So here are a couple of things that we have been SUPER busy with – getting our basement bathroom tiled and finished (hoping to paint and install new toilet this weekend!). We need a useable bathroom before the rents arrive here next week!!

So, we have family over for Christmas!! SUPER excited!! Our temperatures have been frigid (understatement of the YEAR!), but they can thank their lucky stars that it seems to be warming up for their arrival… I’m sorry, what I meant to say was that it will be warming up from Friday, just in time for their arrival next week…!! Today is freakin freezing!!

We are going to take them to the mountains – so definitely tune in on instagram for some pretty photos!! My AMAZING hubby brought me a Sony Alpha A6300 mirrorless camera for my birthday!! I took it on our trip to NY and it definitely made travel “lighter”!! I also upgraded my phone (hellooooo Samsung Galaxy S7!!). This is important because now I can wirelessly send photos from my camera to my phone… en voila!! The result is some pretty amazing instagram photos!!

As it is Christmas season with tons of specials, I took good use of this opportunity to catch up on some albums (because I LOVE seeing my photos come to life!!). Although I haven’t shared much of this with you, I have enjoyed the last few trips by paging through my GORGEOUS albums!!! (Intervention has been performed by hubby… apparently enough is enough now!!) 😉

I know there are a few things that I wanted to get done before the rents arrive… but oh well!! We’ll just not mention that and all should be good!!

Work has also been kind-of nuts!! It’s that ever popular end-of-year crunch!! (I am writing this while we are in a lull waiting for some last-minute proposal reviews to come through!!…. EEEeeek!!) Crunch time…. Only a couple more days to go!! Have I mentioned that I am excited?? 😀

The dogs are doing well as well!! I’m pretty sure they just sleep throughout the day… and then take out their energy on us when it is time to wind down…. but we love them!! Hhhhmmmm…. I wish I was with them right now…. I could use their fluffy cuddles and snores!!

Oh well!! Follow along on instagram!! I’m hoping to share some basement upgrades with you soon… but it won’t be untill after the new year!! In which case Merry Christmas to all you people!! Stay warm, stay safe!! And have a great time!! 😀 <3

A Few Highlights from our Camping Weekend

We spent the weekend in the mountains… our bliss!! Jasper National Park is our happy place… nature, mountains, no cellphones, hiking… we love it! This weekend we went along with a couple of friends, did some new (and old) hiking routes, saw a bear with two cubs… numerous elk and angry squirrels, just relaxed and had a good time!! I’ll do more “in-depth” posts on a couple of the hikes we did (pyramid lookout, fort point loop, lac beauvert loop, whistler trail etc), but in the meantime, here are a couple of those special moments…

September 2015 Camping Trip

Beginning of September we took our first camping trip of the year (shame on us!). Yes, it was slightly colder than I would have preferred, but regardless of the cold, the Canadian Rockies never ceases to amaze!! It really is just SO beautiful any time of the year!

This was the second time we took our dogs along! It is a lot more effort, but for us, it beats putting them in a kennel or getting calls from neighbours of naughty dogs!! Also, we really love our dogs, and taking them along with us just makes us happy as well!! Our favourite camping spot is directly next to the Great Athabsca river in Wabasso Campground! If you’ve camped there once, you’ll be a repeat visitor for sure! Here are a few photos of our trip:

On dreary days we like to explore in close proximity of Jasper Townsite. On this especially cold and dreary day, we FINALLY went to Pyramid Lake! We have always wanted to go, but somehow time just kept slipping by and then we, once again, did not visit Pyramid Lake! Oh my goodness, it is just a breathtaking place! When we arrived, Pyramid Mountain was hidden behind the mist and low clouds! But after spending a while on the island, the skies cleared and the view of this majestic mountain just blew us away!

After soaking in the day, we visited Moab Lake. It is a really eerie and creepy place which very little people visit. They either do not know about it, or do not care to visit. In 2000 a huge fire destroyed much of the area. And this destruction is still visible 15 years after the fact. The shrubs and trees are only now starting a regrowth process! This is really what makes the place so eerie! That and the crows squawking every now and then!

We also did a quick hike! I was not feeling too great (a lingering flu has kept me under the weather for longer than I appreciated at this point!) Nevertheless, a visit to the mountains would not be complete without a hike! We did the Geraldine Lookout hike, a short 4.6 km return hike with views of the Athabasca and Whirpool Valleys!
